Community Events

Community Appearances
The Texas Tornado has a major presence throughout the community, making appearances and attending events throughout the entire year.  The Texas Tornado inflatable slap shot cage, is a crowd favorite at Tornado appearances.  The Texas Tornado mascots, VORTEX and PETER PUCK are also available for community events, along with the Texas Cup.  If you would like the Texas Tornado at your next community event fill out this form.

Community Organization of the Night
The Texas Tornado is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in the North Dallas, Collin and Denton County areas.  One example of our efforts is the Community Organization of the Night program.  This program is designed to create awareness and support for the various non-profit organizations in the area.  One non-profit organization will be featured at every Texas Tornado home game throughout the 2006-07 season, and will receive a 15-second public service announcement, recognition on the scoreboard and a kiosk display in the arena.

Teddy Bear Toss

Every fan is encouraged to bring a stuffed animal or teddy bear to the designated game for the 2007-2008 season. The stuffed animals will be thrown by the fans onto the ice after the first Texas Tornado goal.  The stuffed animals will be collected, donated, and delivered by Texas Tornado players and coaches to Children’s Medical Center.

This year's Teddy Bear Toss will be held Nov. 23, 2007 at 7:30pm.

Texas Tornado School Programs
As part of our mission statement, the Tornado has developed and implemented numerous community outreach programs throughout Collin County, Denton County and Dallas County.  These programs enhance the quality of life for residents and students through support for organizations and participation in programs and events.

Read to Achieve
This six-week program is designed to encourage elementary school students to read for enjoyment and reward achievement with Tornado tickets.  For every three books a student reads, he or she scores a Hat Trick.  For every Hat Trick achieved by a student, he or she will receive a “Read to Achieve” voucher redeemable for a free ticket to a future Texas Tornado home game.  If a student reads six books, he or she will receive two vouchers.
